The Swedish Biofinder Study consists of four cohorts where patients are included prospectively and followed longitudinally for at least four years with repeated examinations and clinical assessments to ensure a clinical diagnosis.
- Cognitively healthy elderly where clinical signs of cognitive impairment or a neurodegenerative disease has been ruled out
- Patients with mild cognitive symptoms that have been characterized as mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or subjective cognitive decline (SCD)
- Patients with parkinsonian symptoms that have been diagnosed as Parkinson’s disease, Parkinsons’s disease dementia, MSA, PSP, dementia with Lewy bodies, and corticobasal degeneration.
- Patients with a clinical diagnosis of dementia (specified as sporadic or genetic Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, Parkinson’s disease dementia or other types of dementia)
