The BioFINDER Cohorts

Cohorts

The Swedish Biofinder Study consists of four cohorts where patients are included prospectively and followed longitudinally for at least four years with repeated examinations and clinical assessments to ensure a clinical diagnosis.

  • Cognitively healthy elderly where clinical signs of cognitive impairment or a neurodegenerative disease has been ruled out
  • Patients with mild cognitive symptoms that have been characterized as mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or subjective cognitive decline (SCD)
  • Patients with parkinsonian symptoms that have been diagnosed as Parkinson’s disease, Parkinsons’s disease dementia, MSA, PSP, dementia with Lewy bodies, and corticobasal degeneration.
  • Patients with a clinical diagnosis of dementia (specified as sporadic or genetic Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, Parkinson’s disease dementia or other types of dementia)
