An extensive set of candidate biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood are examined with multiparameter selected reaction monitoring (SRM), mass spectrometry assays and immunological assays to study e.g. the diagnostic potential of selected biomarker panels in both CSF and plasma. We will study candidate biomarkers involved in the metabolism of Aβ, tau and α-syn, key inflammatory events, synaptic dysfunction and endothelial damage (see list below).
As a standard for all participants in the BioFINDER cohorts, Aβ40, Aβ42, total Tau (T-Tau) and phosphorylated Tau (P-Tau) are measured using different ELISAs (INNOTEST and EUROIMMUN).
The CSF and blood biomarkers are measured at Lund University and in collaboration with professors Kaj Blennow and Henrik Zetterberg at the Clinical Neurochemistry Laboratory, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Sweden.
